Volunteering

Once you have completed the Earth Carers course we offer opportunities to volunteer in the community to spread the message of full lives and empty bins! All our positions are 'one off' but feel free to put your hand up as little or as often as you like! Some of our regular requirements are listed below and often we have other roles for special events - to find out about these subscribe to our e-newsletter. For more information about volunteering for Earth Carers email us or call 9384 4003.

Staffing Community Stalls

Be the face of Earth Carers in your community! Earth Carers maintain a strong presence in the community by having stalls at community fairs, festivals and markets. We need you to chat to memebers of the public about our services, courses and waste reduction campaigns, for example our Battery Recycling Program. Two to three hour shifts are available and you will be with an Earth Carers staff member for on the job training and support. Depending on the shift you may need to help set up and pack up the stall.

Being Bin Champions

This is all about promoting good waste practices at events in our region.  Make sure people put things in the right bins at events and even take part in bin audits to make sure they system is working.

Helping with School REDUCE, Reuse, Recycle Sessions

Teach REDUCE, Reuse, Recycle to the next generation! We share this vital message with primary school kids by regularly visiting schools and presenting a series of games (see the Schools section of this website). We visit schools about once a month for a few hours.  We are looking for people who are good with kids and have lots of energy! Must have Working with Children Check (we can help with this if needed).

Skills Sharing

What is your waste or sustainability passion? Are you bursting to share it with likeminded others? We run regular workshops and social events for the Earth Carers network. We are often looking for people with special skills (like worm farming, yoghurt making, green cleaning etc.) to share their skills. These are one off events and we will provide venues, equipment and promotion as needed.

Our battery mascot and CFL globe fairy are great fun at events!
